The Virtual Hampson Museum

The Virtual Hampson Museum

The Hampson Archaeological Museum State Park in Wilson, Arkansas, houses some of the most extraordinary examples of Native American pottery in North America. In 2007, researchers at CAST used the Konica-Minolta VIVID 9i to scan ~350 artifacts from the museum collection. These 3D artifacts are now available for viewing and download at the Virtual Hampson Museum. Visitors to the Virtual Hampson Museum can view and interact with the 3D artifacts, allowing for an interactive museum-like experience. Interested parties, including archaeologists and other researchers, can also download the models in several different formats including VRML, OBJ, and 3D PDF with recommended free software and perform basic measurements and analysis. A 3D Visualization of the Upper Nodena Village is also available on the site.

The images below are not just images but digital snapshots of several of the 3D pottery models from the Hampson virtual museum collection.  Visit the Virtual Hampson Museum!
